Lump on C-Section Scar

I felt 2 little circular mass on my C-S incision while assessing myself for possible reasons as to why I am experiencing this kind of discomfort.  One on the bottom just exactly near the cut and one on the middle of the scar. This lead me  into thinking that it might be associated with  my multiple C- S operations.  My mother told me before  that she had a very small lump at her incision few weeks after she gave birth to my youngest sibling via C-S as well. But the lump was under the skin.  Her OB-Gyne told her that it was just the knot, to where the incision is tied. And there is nothing to worry about. But after a few  weeks or so while cleaning her wound, she felt some sharp thing on the area. The piece of cotton for cleaning  is being stocked on that sharp area.  Upon checking , it was a dried thread with a puss all over it. She went back to her OB-Gyne  and they immediately removed it through a minor surgery.  At first I thought that mine might just be the knot as well. Since it was tied up multiple times  due to multiple C-S operations. Guessing that it might be a scar over the scar causing the mass or lump.  But to make sure, I paid a visit to my doctor to have it checked. She  said that  it was just a knot , no puss and no left over thread. Okay. I am quite satisfied. But I am longing for more answers. Why do  I have the pain if it was not caused by  that incision. So what's causing it? I can see in her face that she has nothing to say. She has no answers. Maybe to console me , she just ended our conversation with a suggestion: To assess more of what I am feeling so  she can refer me to the  right specialist.

Days go by and pain does not go away. Much worst. I was even rushed to the hospital by my husband right after our work because of the unbearable pain. Now ,the pain on my lower back is greater than what  I have on my abdomen. I felt so tired, I tried different types of stretching.  The pain is killing me. I even asked my husband to give me a kick on the area so it will numb.  I want him to hit my back with a steel  to alleviate the pain. Or a punch on my face so I can feel another pain.  I cant stand it anymore. I am so confused. I am feeling a lot of different pain but I don't know what is causing them. There are times that the lump  and the scar along with my abdomen is painful than my back. But there are also times that I would like to cut myself so I can no longer feel the pain on my back. I ended up getting other opinions as what was advised to me. I seek help with an Internal Medicine Doctor, a Family Doctor , Physical Therapist  and a Surgeon.

  1. Joan, I hope you are able to find the reason on the pain you are experiencing. I too had undergone CS and had a difficult recovery. But thank God that so far, I haven't had the pains you are describing nor anything similar to it. I only had my first CS but we do plan to have a second child at least and this is one of the things I fear the most... to have another CS. I will pray for you dear. And do continue to share as for sure other moms out there are experiencing the same.

    1. Hi and thanks for dropping by Marilou! Well, I am happy to hear that you are not experiencing any of these. But mind you, I never experience these on the first 2 c-s operations that I had. I have a total of 3 c-s deliveries. In 2007, 2008 for my twin and 2010 for my youngest. So with the 3 operations.. it made me into thinking that the scar tissues might have clogged too tight causing the lump or/and one or more small vein were caught in between.. hmmm.. puro lang hinala. Deliver your next baby via normal delivery as long as you can because you will never know the outcome not until it was done.

Thank you so much for your prayers dear.

  2. I had about 3 lumps on mine, they go away, I had mine for about 3 yrs, now its not there, I just thought it was where I had them back to back, 2 in less than 2 yrs, so I dont know, Im still numb done there though. My mom told me I would have problems not being able to hold my bladder, after a few yrs I thought she was wrong, on the 3rd yr I realized she was so right....I cant keep from peeing if I sneeze, etc. -My doctor gave me a choice- natural or cs, wish I would have went natural!

    1. Really? I have mine for over a year now. I have them removed (will post the story next time) but I think they came back. Good thing that you don't have those lumps anymore. Sometimes they add pain and now I think they getting bigger.

I hope that you can get good assistance with your bladder problem.

Don't blame yourself. No one thought that things will end up like this, right? Specially that we were not informed that C-Section delivery will do harm us a lot.

So how are you now? Are you doing good? What medications/ treatments have you tried from the time that you had the pain? Did something worked on you? Care to share so we can also help other moms out there?
Will be looking forward for your help dear! :)
      Thanks in advane!

  3. Hi, yes I am doing great now except for the normal back pain, bladder problems and occassional stomach pain. I actually think that my stomach where it is numb was not letting me know when I had to use the restroom, I think this contributed to my bladder problems. I started taking water pills and going more often and this helped the accidents. I was going once or twice a day! My fiance was always shocked that I could go for so long and drink so much. I can only wonder if my numbness is the cause. My c-section did not close up on the left side because my staples were taken out after 24 hours (I have heard that this is absurd and crazy!) I had to tape it together and this is where the lump was, but has since disappeared. I had tried every pain pill out there but oddly enough, Advil seemed to be the only thing that would help. I don't like to take a bunch of pills so this was great and I still take them, and they still work. Yes, I would have not gotten a c-section if I knew now what I didnt know then, but like you said-no one thought things would end up like this. I do want to tell you not to lift anything heavy, not for a few more years, this causes so much pain, and Im not exactly sure why. My doctor told me that when you have a c-section the pain some women struggle with for the next year or two is your organs going back in place, that the surgery left a hole that they will slide back into in due time. I dont know about that but it makes sense because they take it all out, move it around and then blow air in your stomach when they put it all back in. *the air is pure hell!* Anyways, I hope you are feeling better, and please take my advice about lifting, if your lift your child, lift with your back and be careful. talk to you soon!

  4. I had a keloid scar pretty badly from the time of my c section. I have been using the Dr max Powers Scar Serum twice a day on the scar, and 18 weeks later the scar is very small and the right side is starting to fade.
